Parks & Recreation: Mossyrock Park: RULES

Tacoma Power Parks rules

To maximize enjoyment of our parks, we ask everyone to follow these simple rules.

With all due respect

Keep it down! People like to sleep, so quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

You may want your buddy in the site next to you, but keep in mind the site must be paid for and occupied with a tent or RV to hold it.

You may be a kid at heart, but can’t be a kid to rent a campsite. We only rent to people who are at least 18 years old.

We don’t allow glass bottles in swimming beach areas.

Park visits are limited to 10 consecutive days.

Pitch your tent so it hits the spot

We provide tent pads in each campsite for you to pitch your tent. We don’t allow tents on the lawns at Mossyrock Park in the:

§         Main campground

§         Cascade Loop

§         Group camp circles

Lifting your spirits

Think small. Alcohol in kegs and other bulk containers is not allowed.

Store and consume alcoholic beverages only in your site or group camp circle.

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the day-use areas or on the Taidnapam Park fishing bridge.

Park it here. Or there. But not just anywhere.

Your campsite fee includes only one vehicle. Additional or unattended vehicles, unless towed, cost $10 each per night.

You may purchase an unattended vehicle permit to park overnight in the day-use parking areas at Taidnapam and Mossyrock parks.

Sorry, we don’t allow overnight parking in the day-use and boat launch areas at Alder Lake and Mayfield Lake parks.

Leave your gas and electric pocket bikes and motorized scooters at home. Only people with disabilities may operate unlicensed mobility devices in the parks.

Please don’t park or drive on vegetated areas.

Get fired up

We provide fire pits or fire rings for your safety and don’t allow campfires anywhere else.

Using power saws is not allowed in the campgrounds.

You’re not allowed to cut or burn live or downed trees. Each park may have additional rules about collecting branches and driftwood.

Animal instincts

Your pets are part of your family, but they can sometimes get in the way of other campers. These rules will help avoid some common pet peeves.

§         Keep your pets under control in cages or on leashes no longer than eight feet. (Make sure someone is holding the other end of the leash.)

§         At night, keep them in a tent or enclosed vehicle.

§         Scoop the poop. We provide bags to make it easier for you.

§         Keep pets off the swimming beaches and the Taidnapam Park fishing bridge.

Please do not feed the wildlife.

Bringing livestock into the parks is not permitted.

Float your boat

Boat launches close at dusk.

Docks may not be used for skiing, swimming or diving.

Alder Lake Park offers free moorage on a first-come, first-served basis. Moorage is limited to 10 consecutive days, and overnight camping is not permitted on moored boats.

Observe and follow state and local boating regulations.

It is illegal to operate watercraft in excess of 8 mph within 200 feet of any shore, dock, public swimming area or log boom.

Please obey no-wake zones.

Cultural awareness

Natural and cultural resources are protected on our lands. Do not collect rocks, minerals or artifacts.

Report vandalism by talking with a park supervisor or by calling (253) 502-8824.

Play it safe

Firearms and fireworks are not permitted in the parks.

Please obey all posted speed limits.

Play all day. Stay all night.
