Customer Checklist for Tacoma Power Interconnection
- _____ Submit an application to Tacoma
Power. To save a step, you may also
submit with the Application, the Net Metering and Production Metering
Agreements in step 2.

- _____ Submit a signed copy of the Net
Metering Interconnection Agreement.
_____ Submit
a signed copy of the Production Metering Agreement for Power Generation Facilities.
If you wish to participate in the Annual
Incentive Payment Program, you must submit this agreement. A production meter will need to be
installed to measure renewables production. Tacoma Power will install
the production meter once the renewable energy production equipment (solar
electric modules and inverter primarily) has been installed. *Fee: $75.54.
See step 5. See steps 8 and 10 for
details and fees.

- _____ Receive written design approval
from Tacoma Power. This will be a
copy of your Application signed by Tacoma Power.
- _____ Get
an electrical permit from Tacoma Power.
Pay electrical permit fee of
$50. (253) 502-8541. Follow the
National Electric Code (NEC) as required. Form: Application
for Electrical Permit
- _____ If you plan to
participate in the Incentive Payment Program described below, pay
a fee of
$75.54
for a production meter to
be installed by Tacoma Power. Fees total: $125.54.
An additional fee of $25 is required when you submit your
application to participate in the Annual Incentive Payment Program. See
step 10.
- _____ Complete the installation.
- _____ Get a final inspection from
Tacoma Power. Call Tacoma Power for inspection at: (253) 502-8541.
Incentive Payment Program
- If you plan to
participate in the Incentive Payment Program, you will need to request the
installation of a utility-owned production meter from Tacoma Power. *Fee: $75.54.
See step 5.
_____ Contact
Tacoma Power Inspections to have a utility production meter
installed. This request for
installation of a utility-owned production meter should be done only after
a successful final inspection has been completed. For the meter installation, the customer shall
provide the meter base and Tacoma Power will install a utility-owned
meter. See step 5.
Tacoma Power requires that customers have a
utility-owned and calibrated production meter
installed by Tacoma Power. Please contact Energy Services at Tacoma Power if

- State certification and application for Annual Incentive
Payment Program
_____ State certification - If you wish to participate and receive
annual payments for renewable energy production, submit the Renewable
Energy System Cost Recovery Certification form to the state Department of
Revenue.

_____ Application
to Tacoma Power for the Renewable Energy System Annual Incentive
Payment. Submit this application
from the state Department of Revenue to Tacoma Power annually to receive
the incentive payment.

*Fees: A
one-time fee of $25 must be submitted with the initial application to
participate in the Incentive Payment Program. Please make checks payable to the City
Treasurer. The fee is applied
to program administration over the life of the program.
Additional information to
include on the form: For
customers participating in the time period from July 1, 2005 and June 30,
2006, please include the initial production meter reading and start
date. Tacoma Power staff took the
end-of-period meter readings for all of our grid tied customers on June
30, 2006. The initial meter read
number subtracted from the meter reading taken on June 30, 2006, will
determine the number of kWh produced.
Make
sure you’ve included the following with your application
_____ Copy of completed state
certification form.
_____ *One-time fee of $25 made out to
City Treasurer.
_____ Initial production meter reading
and start date.
*Fees: This Incentive
Payment Program is in the beginning stages of implementation. Tacoma Power has set
the fees as stated on this checklist.
Although we expect that these will be
the fees going forward, it is possible that we will make modifications as
we gain program experience.
