Preaching the green-power gospel -  Evangelists for renewable energy sources coming out of the wilderness.  Solar-power activist Mike Nelson and his wife Chris live on a Seattle houseboat that's totally off the electricity grid. Nelson is proud of his "wind-built guitar," which was constructed with tools powered by wind-generated electricity.

Bonneville Power Administration -   The Bonneville Power Administration is a federal power marketing agency that markets power generated at federally-owned dams on the Columbia River and its tributaries.   BPA has also supported the development of other power resources, including some energy conservation programs by Pacific Northwest utilities and some green power projects.

BEF-logo100w.gif (2534 bytes)Bonneville Environmental Foundation -  The Bonneville Environmental Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation that funds environmentally preferred energy and watershed projects in the Pacific Northwest and markets environmentally preferred power to utilities in the Pacific Northwest.

Northwest Energy Coalition -  The NW Energy Coalition is an alliance of over 85 environmental, civic and human service organizations, progressive utilities and businesses from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and British Columbia. The Coalition promotes energy conservation and renewable energy resources, consumer and low-income protection and fish and wildlife restoration on the Columbia and Snake Rivers.  The Northwest Energy Coalition for a Healthy Bay Northwest Project is an endorser of Tacoma Power's EverGreen Options program.

Citizens for a Healthy Bay -   Because Tacomans cherish clean and healthy water, Citizens for a Healthy Bay works hard to develop innovative solutions that preserve Tacoma's clean water for future generations. The Citizens for a Healthy Bay Northwest Project is an endorser of Tacoma Power's EverGreen Options program.

Renewable Northwest Project -  In 1994, a broad coalition of public-interest organizations and energy companies created the Renewable Northwest Project (RNP) to promote renewable energy development in the region. Since its inception, RNP has been a forceful advocate in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana, for basing the region's energy future on clean, renewable resources, such as solar, wind and geothermal. The Renewable Northwest Project is an endorser of Tacoma Power's EverGreen Options program.

Tahoma Audubon Society -  The Tacoma chapter of the National Audubon Society.  Audubon's mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.  The Tahoma Audubon Society Northwest Project is an endorser of Tacoma Power's EverGreen Options program.

The Green Power Network - provides news on green power markets and utility green pricing programs - both domestic and international. You will find up-to-date information on green power providers, product offerings, consumer issues, and in-depth analyses of issues and policies affecting green power markets.

Natural Resources Defense Council -  The Natural Resources Defense Council is an endorser of the power marketed by the Bonneville Environmental Foundation.

State office, National Audubon Society-   Coordinates state Audubon Chapters efforts in the state legislature and state agencies while providing a wealth of information and expertise on protecting state habitats.

Washington Environmental Council -   Washington Environmental Council is a statewide, non-profit organization of individual volunteers and affiliated organizations working to protect, preserve, and restore the environment of Washington State.  Coordinates state environmental groups efforts in the state legislature and provides leadership on state wide policy issues.

  • U.S. EPA "Surf Your Watershed" -  A service to help you locate, use, and share environmental information on your watershed or community.
  • U.S. EPA Watershed Academy -  The EPA Office of Water initiated the Watershed Academy to provide training for watershed managers based on local, state, tribal, and federal experiences in implementing the watershed approach throughout the past decade.
  • Volunteer Monitor -  The Volunteer Monitor newsletter facilitates the exchange of ideas, monitoring methods, and practical advice among volunteer environmental monitoring groups across the USA.
  • Washington Nature Mapping -  The NatureMapping Program's vision is to create a national network that links natural resource agencies, academia and land planners with local communities primarily through schools.
River Network -   River Network's mission is to help people organize to protect and restore rivers and watersheds.

Puget Soundkeeper Alliance -  Formed in 1984 as a coalition of citizens and organizations concerned about the health of Puget Sound, Puget Soundkeeper Alliance (PSA) has been on the forefront of Sound stewardship ever since.  The Puget Soundkeeper Alliance brings together concerned citizens, businesses and government agencies to solve marine environmental issues in a responsible and balanced manner.

Northwest Environment Watch -  An independent, not-for-profit research and publishing organization.  NEW's mission is to foster a sustainable economy and way of life in the Pacific Northwest, defined as the watersheds of rivers flowing into the Pacific through the largest rainforest outside the tropics.

People for Puget Sound -  Works to protect Puget Sound from oil spills and to protect fragile shoreline habitat.

Earth Day Network -  Earth Day Network is the nonprofit coordinating body of worldwide Earth Day activities. Our goal is to promote a healthy environment and a peaceful, just, sustainable world by organizing events, activities, and annual campaigns.
