Electrical Installation Requirements
The City of Tacoma has adopted the 2005 National
Electrical Code. This has the majority of the requirements for
electrical installation. This can be bought at technical book stores or
may be available at the library.
The City of Tacoma has also adopted the State of
Washington rules for electrical installation
WAC 296-46B. These rules
can be downloaded from the State web site as a PDF document.
The City of Tacoma has its own amendments to these
rules that are outlined in the
City Electrical Code.
Tacoma Power has a set of
Customer Service Policies that
has requirements for the utility supply for customers serviced by Tacoma
Power.
Tacoma Power also has a
New Electrical Services Handbook
that puts together some of the above requirements for service
installations into an easy to read format.
Tacoma Power also has
Customer Construction Standards
that go into great detail of the requirement for specific portions of
the service system supplied by Tacoma Power.
Tacoma Power uses
EUSERC (Electric Utility Service
Equipment Requirements Committee) for acceptability of service
equipment. See the current utility acceptability table for the approved
drawings for our area of service.
